“Hey Sara. We should go see Iron Man this tonight.”
“I saw Ann’s note. I’m good with it.”
“Ann’s note?”
Sara points to a piece of looseleaf under the “Eat Me” magnet on the fridge.
–Hey guys! It’s Saturday morning, and no one else is around/awake. I think Billy or Scott was up earlier, and may be at work. I don’t know. I’m headed out to meet an old friend for breakfast, and I’ll probably get some coffee on the way back, and then I’ll see if Scott is working, or just sleeping late. All of this is irrelevant to why I’m writing this note, as is the fact that I’ll probably get a caramel macchiato when I go. We should all see Iron Man tonight. I know we’ve discussed wanting to see it, so I’m saying, we’re doing it tonight. It’s, predictably, playing all the time on multiple screens, so we shouldn’t have too much of a problem. I’ll mention this note to Scott if he’s working, but if he’s not, I probably won’t. Mainly because he won’t be there to mention it to. I’m in the mood for a big ole tub of popcorn with lots of greasy butter tonight. Who’s with me? What do those things cost nowadays? They as much as the movie? I guess I’ll find out tonight won’t I? I bet Billy knows the answer to this though, it’s rare he goes a movie without a snack. Anyway, I better get going, I’m going to be late.
P.S. My cellphones dead, so I’ll be out of contact. Hmm, I hope my friend shows up on time since she can’t call me. Oh..I should probably go be there on time myself then.
P.P.S. I’m going to ask you guys about May tonight..be warned.
“Oh, I guess it’s decided then. That’s easy enough. I want a hot dog.”
Repeal Day Note

Hey everyone. I’m working tonight and won’t be home, but I wanted to remind you that Wednesday is Repeal Day. I figured the simplest place to drink would be Catalina’s, and I’m not working that night so it does work out. I’ll actually be able to celebrate with all of you, and I don’t think enough people have caught onto the holiday yet that I’d be missing any big tips or anything. It really is the ultimate drinking holiday though, no strings attached, just the celebration of alcohol. Not that the six of us really need any excuses to party or celebrate alcohol. If you’re looking for a prohibition era cocktail to order Wednesday, you can check out Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s Mixologist Blog, but I think most of them are a little more complicated than Zachary (Catalina’s bartender) is used to handling. He’s not a bad bartender, but he’s certainly not in Jeffrey’s league. It’s a shame he lives in Oregon, although he says he’s going to be in New York for the holiday. Oh dear, I’m rambling again. I just wanted to remind you all that we should celebrate, and we should do it at Catalina’s on Wednesday. Talk to you later.
P.S. I’m sticking this on the television because I know you guys are going to watch the Monday Night Football game and this way you won’t miss it.

When I got home today there was a meatball hero sitting on the counter with a note from Ann.
I bought myself a meatball hero from that sub shop down the block. I was all set to eat it when I got a call from an old friend inviting me to lunch. I figured it would be rude to eat lunch before going to lunch, so I didn’t eat the sub. I don’t think food tastes as good reheated, so I’m leaving this note for you so that one of you can eat it. I assume this will mean Billy or Scott, but whoever comes home hungry first can have it. I think it’s 50/50 on whether Scott is intrigued enough by the smell of tomato sauce to actually read this note. Tabitha, I haven’t seen my friend in a long time and I don’t have to work tonight so there is a chance we stay out after lunch. And Frank, because I know you’re going to ask; ‘Yes Joe, it’s toasted’.
For the record, I was intrigued, and hungry. The sub is now comfortably in my stomach.
Here I Am!

I’m not at home, but I read my roommates’ post searching for me, and decided to leave an e-note instead of responding directly. At least this way they won’t make fun of me using whole pads of post-its for my note. I feel like Nemo after reading the post; Tabitha as the father clown fish, and Scott as Dory.
First I want to say thank you to the Barmaid and hope she’s okay after her last post. We got more traffic from her link to our blog Sunday than we’d had all of the previous three months, and I think we may have even snagged a regular reader or two.
I’ve had a busy week, and certainly a better one than the Mets. (Sorry Sara) I’ve got two big surprises, which I don’t want to reveal in this note, but if you’re all in for late night snacks and drinks at Catalina’s Friday night, I’ll meet and explain it all to you there. Frank and Sara, you guys aren’t headed to one of the subway series games this weekend right? Both surprises will be explained when I show up, although they’re not related in any way.
I visited my parents out on the island. I was briefly hanging out with an old boyfriend, who it turns out only actually missed one part of me. I had some of my mother’s delicious ravioli, and caught up with my family and read some books I’d been meaning to read for a while. I really enjoyed Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, I’d been meaning to read that since Sara lent it to me after we saw the Da Vinci Code.
I left my job at the library, which is what allowed me the time to visit my parents. The job wasn’t bad, and I wasn’t worried about being stuck under a pile of Harry Potter books, (excellent visual there Scott, thanks.) but it was time for me to move along.
My writing ambitions have picked up again, and I think a lot of it has to do with making myself write this blog. Having my roommates help out with it has been a great relief too. I was discussing the blog with an old friend, and she mentioned that our lives resemble the tv show Friends in many ways. She suggested I should write a script based on the blog, like a Friends episode. I’ve never written anything in that format, but I might try it just for the sake of trying something new.
I have been coming and going at odd hours, especially since I haven’t wanted to pay the peak LIRR train fare to go out on the island. However, I have indeed seen my roommates this week, even if they haven’t seen me. I’ll leave the details for discussion over drinks Friday night.

“So has anyone seen Ann lately? I feel like I haven’t seen her in a week.”
“I was just thinking the same thing, we haven’t even gotten one of her notes.”
“I’m pretty sure I’ve at least heard her come in at night, sometimes really late. I haven’t talked to her or seen her either though.”
“The same, should we mount a search?”
“I don’t think I’ve seen her either, and I usually keep drastically different hours than you guys.”
“Have we checked the library? She could be buried under a pile of Harry Potter books.”
“No way. The other librarians would have saved her by now. Or at least called us to invite us to the funeral.”
“I’d have to get my suit dry cleaned if there was a funeral.”
“I don’t think you need it, but shouldn’t your suit be clean already?”
“It’s a wrinkled mess in the corner of my closet. I haven’t worn it in ages.”
“You only have one?”
“I probably have another one or two back at my parent’s place. I don’t use them though, so I didn’t bring them when I moved.”
“I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen you in anything fancier than what you wear to work.”
“I hate getting dressed up anyway. I’m almost dreading my sister’s wedding for just that reason.”
“Your sister’s getting married? When? Why didn’t you tell us?”
“It didn’t come up. August I think. It’s going to be hot, which makes me dread the tux even more.”
“Well congratulate her for me.”
“Back to Ann, It’s unlike her to run off for this long without telling anyone. I wonder what her deal is. I hope it’s nothing bad.”
“We’re sitting in the living room talking about her, but is anyone sure she’s not just in her room asleep right now?”
“Dibs!” Scott jumps up and opens Ann’s room and runs in.
“Nope, she’s not in here. Her laptop is not here either, but her bed is made.” Scott says, returning to the living room.
“What does her bed being made have to do with anything?”
“Well if it’s not made, maybe she didn’t sleep in it last night.”
“Or she made it when she got up…”
“Why would she do that?”
“I’m sure she’s fine, probably just busy. Maybe she has been sparked by inspiration and is off in some coffee house writing.”
“When was the last time you were at work Scott?”
“Monday night. Ann wasn’t there though.”
“Maybe she’s marooned on a weird island with polar bears.”
“Our lives are not an episode of Lost!”
“Then where is she?”
“Have we tried calling her cell phone?”
“No. That would be practical. How are we practical? I gamble for a living remember?”
“Her cell phone died. She dropped it in pancake syrup last week. She told me she was going to get it replaced, but when I called it last night it was off.”
“Oooo! What phone is she going to get? Why didn’t she tell me? I can help her pick one out. Is she going to get a Razr? The new iPhone is coming out soon, maybe she should get that.”
“I don’t know. It’s a phone. It rings, people answer it. What else do you need?”
“You’re joking right? I use my phone for so much.”
“He doesn’t even have a camera on his phone.”
“Seriously Billy? I don’t think I can talk to you anymore.”
“Why don’t we just leave a note for Ann to leave us a note telling us what she’s been up to? We’ve heard her come in, I’m sure she’ll let us know..in painstaking detail.”
“I guess that works. It sure beats staying all night watching Adult Swim and waiting for her to come home. I’ll write the note though, you have crappy handwriting Billy.”

Frank and Ann are very different people

Subject: The Difference Between Ann and Frank
I was out partying tonight, but the dudes I was with turned out to be pretty lame and now I’m home early. I came home to find that both Ann and Frank had left for a couple of days, but they let us know in very different ways. In typical Ann fashion there was a note on the fridge. I didn’t read it because it was too much writing, but Sara filled me in on what it said.
Sorry to suddenly disappear, but Frank’s cousin up in Boston secured seats to a game at Fenway Park and since Frank had never been he decided there was no time like right now. At first I though he was crazy leaving in the middle of the night to drive up to Boston, but the more I thought about it, the more fun it sounded. Frank said they had an extra ticket still, so after he called his cousin back, I decided to tag along. It was a tough decision, but I hate work anyway so I called in for Monday, and maybe Tuesday too. I got up really early this morning though, so I very well may need Frank to stop for coffee on the way. We’re figuring the roads will be pretty quiet, but then you never can tell. You guys want me to pick you up anything? Oh, you can’t answer me because this is a post-it note. Well notes really, It’s good that Tabitha bought the super-sized ones. The tickets are for Monday, apparently it’s Patriot’s day and the day of the Boston Marathon. The game actually starts at 10am, which I thought was a bit early to start playing baseball, but who am I to judge? Apparently it’s a great day in Boston and really hard to get tickets. We figured since we’re going up right now, we might as well try to goto the game tomorrow too. They’re playing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, such a long name that is; who’s bright idea was that? Frank’s dragging me away now, we’re in Boston if you need us.
That pretty much covers it, but out of curiosity I checked Frank’s AIM away message.
“I drove my cah somewhere.”
Sara argues that that is almost as descriptive as Ann’s note.

Ann’s Note

Subject: Ann’s Note
I got home on Friday and found a note from Ann. She and Frank had taken Frank’s brother John to Starbucks and left a note inviting us to join them. Ann can be a little long-winded when she writes notes, and I got a good laugh at how sidetracked she got while writing this one.
“Hey everyone! Frank’s brother John decided to come visit; Me and Frank are taking him out to lunch and then we’re headed to Starbucks. You guys should totally meet us there and come hang out. Isn’t it crazy how John just decided to drop in? He didn’t even give any warning, just called for a ride from the airport. Speaking of which, I wonder when Frank drove his car last? I know he has it parked in a garage somewhere and I hope he remembers which one; It’s been weeks since he’s driven it. I just asked him and he said he actually took it out for a spin in the wee hours of the morning Tuesday night. He had a good night playing poker and decided to take a ride. He had to get gas though, and then he got a snack. He hurried home after that, because all the people getting coffee reminded him that he should get off the road before the morning rush hour really kicked into gear. Speaking of coffee; I could go for some about now…Oh! That’s why I’m writing this note, because we’re going to get coffee! We’ll be at Starbucks if you want to hang out.”
What I enjoyed most about Ann’s note is how it went full circle like that. It also took four post-it notes.
