Date Me, Stalk Me

Welcome to the 6th floor.

Today’s contributors are: Sara, Frank, and Scott.

Subject: Date Me

Scott and Frank enter the apartment, it’s noon on Monday, and Sara is lounging on the couch with her laptop, which is named Xerses.

Sara! I see you’re very busy playing bejeweled blitz but we’re planning to go to that new bar that opened to watch the game tonight. You will join us.” Scott commands.

You sure they’ll have the Islanders on?” Sara asks.

I told you she didn’t want to watch the World Series.” Frank says to Scott.

Come on! You need to get out of the house anyway.” Scott says.

I am getting out. I actually have a date tonight.” Sara says.

Ooooh, who’s the lucky guy?” Frank asks.

Forget it. I’m not telling you anything.” Sara says, turning back to bejeweled.

Shouldn’t you be studying?” Scott asks.

Studying? For my date?” Sara asks, confused.

I always study for my dates. You gotta look ‘em up, find out what they like. Google them!” Scott says.

You’re crazy. If you find out everything about a girl you’re going to date, what do you talk about at the date?” Sara asks.

Oh, I don’t tell her that I Googled her. She might think I’m creepy.” Scott says.

It’s not a bad plan. It helps you steer the conversation in a proper fashion. Like if you Googled this guy and found out he’s a Yankees fan, you wouldn’t bring up baseball or the World Series because your Mets sucked this year.” Frank explains.

Actually, that does make a lot of sense…and you just wait until next year with the Mets.” Sara says.

Here, let me help you. I’m an expert on finding info on people.” Scott says, taking the laptop from Sara. “What’s this guy’s name?”

6th Floor Romances

Welcome to the 6th floor.

Today’s contributors are: Tabitha, Frank

Subject: Romantic Updates

From Pictures

Frank meanders out of his room to find Tabitha lounging on the couch watching tv.

Hey, You’re not usually home during the day are you?” Frank asks.

Not regularly. They cut my secretary hours at work a bit. I was only doing 30, but now I’m doing 25. Rough times I guess.” Tabitha says.

Bummer. Well, you want to eat?” asks Frank.

It’s about that time. Yes. Pizza?” Tabitha suggests.

Nah. In more of a Mexican mood. “ Frank responds.

I approve. Let me just grab my coat.”

Coat?” Frank asks, “It’s summer and hot as hell out there!”

Except in restaurants, where they tend to overdo the air conditioning.” Tabitha says, heading for the door.

They walk down the stairs and down the block to the restaurant. There was only one table left, a two person table outside.

Frank sits down and looks around. “You’re right Tabitha, this air conditioning is unbearable!”

Oh, shut up.” Tabitha replies, putting her coat on the back of her chair.

Margarita please. On the rocks.” Frank orders.

Not a bit early for margaritas?”

It’s lunch time. It’s Mexican. You’re not going to let me drink alone right?”

Tabitha starts to object, and then thinks better of it. “Sure, I’ll have a frozen strawberry one.” Tabitha says to the waiter.

Waiter: “Coming right up.”

So how’s Rose these days?” Tabitha asks.

Oh, umm..we broke up a couple of weeks ago.” Frank says.

Oh, sorry. I wondered why you didn’t seem to be going out as much. So no one new yet?”

The margaritas come, and they order food. “No, not right now. Dating someone is a lot of work. I notice you haven’t been dating anyone in a while.”

Working at that IT place all I meet are geeky guys that want to talk about Star Wars or routers or whatever.”

Maybe you should introduce them to Sara?”

Sara doesn’t like geeky guys. She says they always are trying to one-up her with technical jargon to prove they aren’t out-geeked by a girl.”

That’s..sad. These guys have enough trouble finding women and they chase away the only ones with similar interests?” Frank rolls his eyes.

They don’t called it socially awkward for nothing.”

Ann just started dating someone new right? Rick..Ray..something with an R..”

Robert. I think they’ve only gone out twice so far.”

Doesn’t count until at least three in my book.”

I’m not sure she cares whether you think it counts or not.”

She better care!” Frank does his evil overlord laugh.

Tabitha quirks her eyebrow at Frank. “Oh, drink your margarita and stop your silly laugh.”

They finish their food, pay, and leave. No more evil laughter occurs during lunch.

Frank’s Date

Welcome to the 6th floor.

Today’s contributors are: Ann, Tabitha, Frank, Billy and Scott.

Subject: Frank’s Date

It’s 12:30 on Friday night/Saturday morning when the apartment door opens and Frank comes in quietly, probably expecting most of his roommates to be asleep.

Such is not the case.

Frankie! How’d it go? You do her?”

Crude Scott. Did you like her? It’s late, you must’ve had a good time. You going to date her again?”

Where’d you take her to eat?”

What’s her name? Where’d you meet her? What’s she like? Blonde?”

Can’t a guy unwind from his date without the third degree? I’m surprised Sara’s not here grilling me as well.”

She was going to, but…” Ann gestures to the couch where Sara is fast asleep.

Ahh. How’d you find out I had a date anyway? I didn’t tell anyone.”

You turned down drinking.”

And then I noticed you’d shaved and left your razor out. You never shave Friday evening.”

I smelled your cologne when I came home. I didn’t think you’d put that on to go play poker or pick up takeout.”

What is this? CSI: 6th Floor?”

You going to answer our questions, or leave us hanging here?”

If you’re all so deductive, maybe you should already be able to figure it out!”

Come on!” Ann whines. “Gossip!”

Is it gossip if it’s about myself?”

Irrelevant. Answer the questions.”

Her name’s Rose. This is actually our second date, I must’ve slipped by you on the first.” Frank sticks out his tongue. “We went to an Italian place in the Village, I had a four cheese lasagna, she had Chicken Francese.

No, she’s a Brunette.”

That’s all you get, I’m going to do some work now.”

Frank pushes through the rest of them grouped around them and heads to his room.

Seemed a little annoyed.”

Guess he didn’t get any.”

He didn’t bring home any leftovers…” Billy pouts.
