{"id":525,"date":"2010-01-09T20:53:04","date_gmt":"2010-01-10T01:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/?p=525"},"modified":"2010-01-09T20:53:04","modified_gmt":"2010-01-10T01:53:04","slug":"a-healthier-orange-and-blue-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/2010\/01\/09\/a-healthier-orange-and-blue-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"A Healthier Orange and Blue 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night a player, wearing Orange and Blue, returned to play after an injury-plagued 2009.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to take this as a sign of good things to come for those other injured orange and blue wearing professional athletes, even if it is a different sport.\u00a0 Last night Rick DiPietro made his first start in goal for the Islanders in over a year.\u00a0 He\u2019s one of their franchise players, and having him back with the team means a ton to their long term success.<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 280px;\" border=\"0\" width=\"318\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/a4-QWbSejNESZTgpYmGd0Q?feat=embedwebsite\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_WiYnnqmj-NY\/S0kyCPNtGzI\/AAAAAAAAIMk\/rtENpgjKSnE\/s800\/dipietro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; text-align: right;\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/ceetar\/MetsStuff?feat=embedwebsite\">MetsStuff<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>In 2010 the Mets will be getting Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Johan Santana, Oliver Perez, and John Maine back from injuries in 2009.\u00a0 Even David Wright missed time in 2009.\u00a0 Maine and Beltran actually returned before 2009 was over, and the others are all on schedule to be healthy by Spring Training, with Oliver Perez already working out.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this doesn\u2019t guarantee anything.\u00a0 Filling out the lineup card doesn\u2019t count as a win, but the Mets had been competitive the three years prior to 2009 and with these guys back it\u2019s hard to expect they won\u2019t be again.<\/p>\n<p>We could spend time breaking down lineups, breaking down the Phillies lineups, analyzing trades and offseason acquisitions, evaluating players and prospects and predicting what 2010 will bring.
