{"id":57,"date":"2007-08-02T18:53:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-02T23:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/?p=57"},"modified":"2007-08-02T18:53:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-02T23:53:00","slug":"seeya-next-year-brewers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/2007\/08\/02\/seeya-next-year-brewers\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeya Next Year Brewers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The season is now two thirds over.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I\u2019m not going to bother doing projections, as that doesn\u2019t matter anymore.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>The home stretch has arrived, and the Mets are in first.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>All that matters from now until October first is how well they play.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Now how well, or badly, they played.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I still strongly believe the Mets are better than the Phillies or Braves, and we now have 54 games left and the Braves and Phillies are playing with a four loss handicap. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Mets again haven\u2019t been playing like last year, and I really think it\u2019s time for people to forget about last year.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Not to quite 2005 or anything, but next year is now.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>This isn\u2019t the same team as last year, but that\u2019s not a bad thing; the Mets didn\u2019t win last year.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They had a rough middle, and have only gradually recovered from that.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They\u2019re only as far in first place as they were on June first before they went into their tailspin.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They\u2019re winning though.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They find ways to win when it matters, even when they aren\u2019t playing at their best.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>People predicted they\u2019d have a tough stretch against the Dodgers and Padres, and they won four of seven.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Sure that\u2019s not terrific, but it\u2019d win the NLCS against either of those teams.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>This <st1:city st=\"on\">Milwaukee<\/st1:City> and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Chicago<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> trip is supposed to tough too, but they beat the Brewers two of three and four of six despite Oliver Perez pitching weakly and Brian Lawerence starting today.<span style=\"\">   <\/span>The only game they squandered was Glavine\u2019s attempted 300<sup>th<\/sup> win and it took the Brewers 13 innings to get their only win of the series.<span style=\"\">  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Cubs are the hottest team in baseball right now, so we\u2019ll see how the Mets handle them.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Maybe facing a tough hot team will spark them to be hot themselves.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>The Mets have actually been getting better with runners in scoring position, with runners on third, and with two outs.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>They have some injuries, but no one\u2019s going to be out all season.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Beltran, Pedro, Lo Duca will all probably be back and very healthy by the playoffs.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Really healthy.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Beltran will probably be able to rest all his sore muscles while on the DL, Pedro will return nice and healthy and stronger than ever.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Lo Duca will return, and hopefully these days off will also help him be productive.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Plus I think Willie finally realizes what a commodity Ramon Castro is, and hopefully will use him more appropriately.<span style=\"\">  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I was getting a little down earlier last month with the way the Mets seemed to be playing, but I feel good now.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>I see a lot of good in the Mets future, and I can\u2019t wait to get my playoff tickets.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>As for the Braves and Phillies?
