{"id":797,"date":"2010-07-29T11:23:22","date_gmt":"2010-07-29T15:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/?p=797"},"modified":"2010-07-29T11:30:41","modified_gmt":"2010-07-29T15:30:41","slug":"mets-bloggers-on-the-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ceetar.com\/optimisticmetsfan\/2010\/07\/29\/mets-bloggers-on-the-field\/","title":{"rendered":"Mets Bloggers on the Field!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night was an amazing experience; The New York Mets invited me, and a score or so other bloggers, to Citi Field, gave us field passes to watch batting practice from the warning track in front of the dugout, excellent tickets to the game, the chance to talk to players, and even a $10 gift card.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 613px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"fredwilpon\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/_WiYnnqmj-NY\/TFFxShy-40I\/AAAAAAAAJm0\/Q6lW6lskk4M\/s800\/IMG_1766.JPG\" alt=\"From Now On, Im sticking to the story that Fred Wilpon bought me pizza\" width=\"613\" height=\"460\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">From Now On, I&#39;m sticking to the story that Fred Wilpon bought me pizza<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 586px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ReyesTosses\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_WiYnnqmj-NY\/TFFxBMtbMTI\/AAAAAAAAJkY\/GmRmfH07pPU\/s800\/IMG_1729.JPG\" alt=\"Reyes Tosses\" width=\"586\" height=\"439\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reyes Tosses<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t interview any players.\u00a0 I was just awestruck and honored just being there up close, watching them prepare for a game.\u00a0 Walked up to the edge of the grass, watching the Mets take infield practice, batting practice, play catch, and chat and joke with each other. \u00a0I could see the players, hear the players clearly, and make out individual blades of grass. \u00a0I saw Angel Pagan take throws from Ike Davis at second base.\u00a0 I saw Albert Pujols swing at BP pitches.\u00a0 I saw Tony LaRussa play first base. (yes I did!) I was within inches of Jose Reyes and other such players as they walked by me into the dugout.\u00a0 It was a surreal and wonderful experience.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"laRussa\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_WiYnnqmj-NY\/TFFxhkNDHJI\/AAAAAAAAJos\/0YWz6wOydz8\/s800\/IMG_1794.JPG\" alt=\"Cardinals first base depth chart is real weak\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cardinals first base depth chart is real weak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I met (or re-met) a lot of fellow bloggers, and that was also a very cool experience.\u00a0 I had a beer with Rustyjr of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nleastchatter.com\/realdirtymets\/category\/rustyjr\/\">The Real Dirty Mets Blog<\/a>, and Kerel Cooper of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ontheblack.com\/\">On the Black<\/a> at McFadden\u2019s before we went in and I ate \u201cdinner\u201d with Kerel, Shannon of <a href=\"http:\/\/metspolice.com\/\">Mets Police<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metstoday.com\/\">Joe Janish<\/a> of Mets Today in the Caesar\u2019s Club.\u00a0 I had conversations with a half dozen other fellow bloggers and I don\u2019t even remember them all!<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"EdandJerrey\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_WiYnnqmj-NY\/TFFxEzZnciI\/AAAAAAAAJk8\/2eo3X-OInJU\/s800\/IMG_1737.JPG\" alt=\"Ed Coleman Interviews Jerry Manuel while bloggers mingle in the background\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ed Coleman Interviews Jerry Manuel while bloggers mingle in the background<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Watching the game next to and in front of half my Twitter feed was a lot of fun, even if I felt in the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century for not having a data plan to tweet live as many of them were doing.
